Amanda is a Junior at CUNY Hunter College, pursuing a BA in Chemistry with a focus in Biochemistry and a minor in Religious Studies while maintaining a premed track. She aspires to attend medical school to become a surgeon, driven by a desire to explore the intersection of medicine and public health and to support and advocate for disadvantaged communities, potentially through opportunities like Doctors Without Borders. After joining SOBEM as a writer in the fall of 2023, she received an honorable mention in Columbia University’s Voices in Bioethics 2023 writing competition. Outside of SOBEM, Amanda was part of the Summer Cancer Research Institute’s 2023 cohort at Temple University’s Lewis Katz Medical School, where she investigated NFATc1 expression levels when testing a novel drug for treating bone erosion in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. In her free time, she enjoys painting, baking, practicing American Sign Language, and writing poetry.
