Shane McGlone

Shane McGlone is a Sophomore at Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College pursuing his (BA) degree in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in Theatre and a Human Rights Certificate. Outside of the classroom, Shane is a research assistant at Dr. Brian Zeglis' Laboratory at the Belfer Research Center. In his research, Shane primarily focuses on the development of theragnostic antibodies capable of targeting antigen biomarkers found within amelanotic melanoma lesions. When not in the lab, Shane is a mentor for the Pre-Health Mentoring Initiative where he helps students navigate their pre-health careers at Hunter College. In between these activities, Shane enjoys writing music, playing the guitar, and training in a rigorous MMA program. After his undergraduate education is complete, he plans to attend medical school and has specific interest in oncology and immunology. He is excited to tackle the interdisciplinary issues surrounding medicine and biology, as well as learn from his like-minded peers.
